From young children to
older adults, people of all ages will find opportunities to enjoy the outdoors
in Lakewood. Whether your interest is in finding the neighborhood playground, a
space to hold the company picnic, or retreating to nature, we have an
staff manage and care for the beautiful parks and open space in our city,
The darkness of night provides a unique backdrop for a hiking adventure, so leave those flashlights at home hone your night vision as a park naturalist guides you along the trails of Bear Creek Lake Park and the surrounding green spaces. Keep in mind each one will average an hour and a half of walking and observing. We will meet at William F Hayden Park at Green Mountain. Don't forget to dress appropriately for Colorado's everchanging weather. No dogs please.

Cost: $2/person, park entrance fee is waived.
Registration closes the Monday before the hike.
National Trails Day is the country's largest celebration of trails. NTD 2018 will take place on Saturday, June 2nd at William Frederick Hayden Park at Green Mountain in partnership with the Colorado Mountain Bike Association. Lite Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The project will run from 8 am-noon.
Parking will be at the park trail head located at Alameda Parkway and Florida.
Volunteers will help finish new trail surfacing on the Green Mountain Trail, along with various trail maintenance tasks. This will be a very arduous project with a significant hike to the project site, up to 1.5 miles.
The first full weekend in June has been designated as no license required fishing in the state of Colorado. Come and join Bear Creek Lake Park staff for this great child-geared program to learn the basics of fishing. We will learn about types of fish, bait, fishing ethics and how to catch the big one! Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring water. Park pass required.

Hike along a winding trail and learn about the flora, fauna and history of the area from Bear Creek Lake Park's naturalist. Come on down and bring your water and sunscreen to enjoy all that the park has to offer by hiking its beautiful trails. Locations vary and will be decided closer to the day, please ensure to register with an accurate email address to get updates.

Amazing Night Sky
Roasting marshmallows and learning about the area, that's what Bear Creek Lake Park Campfire Programs are all about! Each Saturday will have a different subject covered with special guests occasionally! Park pass required.
Join us for a program designed specifically for young children. Participants will explore their natural environment through stories, songs and interactive programs. We will meet at the Bear Creek Lake Park Visitor Center.
